What are the new benefits being introduced by Pay and Reward?

You can find out more about the current and new benefits available in our 'More than just a Job' brochure, or visit Our Benefits to watch back the recordings from our Benefits Week sessions.

In addition to enhancing current benefits, some of the new benefits being introduced include:

  • a GP helpline
  • health care cash plans and personal insurance
  • shared cost AVCs
  • financial wellbeing and resilience support including salary advance.

Additionally, we are extending free eye tests to all colleagues instead of just those using display screen equipment.

We can always review our benefits package to ensure we are offering a competitive total rewards offer. We welcome any suggestions of new benefits that are affordable or cost neutral.

What benefits are available now?

We have many benefits that are currently available for you to access now. Go to Our Benefits portal to see the full range of benefits and discounts.

New and enhanced benefits being introduced as part of Pay and Reward will be available from the implementation of the Pay and Reward offer, subject to a positive ballot outcome.

How do I access the Our Benefits portal?

Visit the portal at https://www.bcpourbenefits.co.uk. To access the portal, you will need to register an account and will need your Employee ID number (found on your payslip or by using F&O).

School colleagues will need to add a prefix before their Employee ID number. For example if your employee ID is 123456 you will need to input D123456.

New starters should be able to register with Our Benefits between 4 and 6 weeks from your start date.

If you experience any issues registering your account, contact:

customersupportuk@terryberry.co.uk

Once registered on the Our Benefit platform, you can download the Be Savings app to your Android or Apple device to access our benefits on the go.

If you do not currently work in an office-based role or do not have access to the internet from a personal device, please ask your manager for support. Alternatively, you can access the internet from one of the libraries.

Do I need my ID badge to access the benefits?

Some of our benefits require proof of employment, so you may be asked to provide your ID badge, a recent payslip, or your work email address. We are looking into ways to make all our discounts available where colleagues do not have a BCP Council email address.

For details on how to access each of our current benefits, please visit the Our Benefits portal at https://www.bcpourbenefits.co.uk

What health and wellbeing benefits are available?

We currently have many health care and wellbeing benefits available such as:

  • our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • NHS Health Checks
  • discounted gym memberships
  • a Wellness Centre with resources, discounts for your physical and mental wellbeing, and information about healthy living
  • an eyecare voucher scheme (currently for DSE users only)
  • Mental Health First Aiders
  • access to LiveWell Dorset
  • free flu vaccines

More information can be found on Our Benefits portal.

As part of the Pay and Reward enhanced benefits package, we will be introducing:

  • a GP Helpline that gives you access to a GP 24 hours a day and 7 days a week
  • health care cash plans using salary deduction
  • Personal Insurance Plans using salary deduction
  • an extension of the eyecare voucher scheme to all colleagues

Who will be able to access the GP Helpline and how will it work?

As part of Pay and Reward we are introducing a GP Helpline, available to you and your immediate household such as your partner, spouse or children.

Support will be available by a telephone helpline or video consultation.

You’ll have access to support from a GP for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. There are no limits on consultation time or the number of times you can call.

Appointments for video consultations will offer more in-depth advice but will need to be booked by telephone. These are available 7 days a week between 8am and 10pm.

For more information, you can watch a video of our GP Helpline webinar on the Our Benefits portal at https://www.bcpourbenefits.co.uk

Will the GP be able to provide prescriptions and referrals to specialists?

Yes, all GPs will be registered and practising NHS doctors and will be able to issue private prescriptions for delivery using an online pharmacy direct to your workplace, nearby local pharmacy or your home.

Any specialist referral will be treated as a private referral, however you can discuss any recommendations for treatment with your normal GP for an NHS referral.

For more information, you can watch a video of our GP Helpline webinar on the Our Benefits portal at https://www.bcpourbenefits.co.uk

Who is eligible for the eyecare scheme?

Currently only DSE (Display Screen Equipment) users are eligible to use the eyecare voucher scheme.

However, following the implementation of Pay and Reward, all colleagues will be eligible to use the eyecare voucher scheme for eye tests.

You’ll also be able to claim up to £25 towards eye tests every two years.

If you only need glasses for VDU (Visual Display Unit) use, you’ll also be eligible for a £50 voucher towards the cost of eyewear and an additional £20 voucher if purchasing from a range above £100.

Is the eyecare voucher only available from Specsavers?

Yes. Specsavers was awarded the contract for sight tests following a procurement process as they offered the best value for money for us.

All contracts are reviewed during any renewal process, and any feedback can be considered for future contract renewals or awards.

I don’t live in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole. What benefits are available to me?

We’ve created a comprehensive and varied reward package, offering you the choice over which benefits suit your needs and interests, rather than a one size fits all approach.

We believe there is a wide variety of benefits on offer, including hundreds of discounts and savings from national retail and leisure partners via Our Benefits portal. Naturally, our exclusive service discounts are restricted to the local area, however we are looking into whether we can share benefits with our neighbouring councils to continue expanding our benefits offer further.

Check out our 'More than just a job' brochure to see what benefits may be of interest to you.

What benefits are there for colleagues who travel to and from our offices or workspaces?

The Cycle to Work and Tusker car schemes offer great savings through salary sacrifice. We have approached the rail companies previously and not been able to secure any corporate rate or discount at this moment. We will keep trying and are working with our sustainable travel colleagues to see if this is something we can offer in the future.

While it is not part of the Pay and Reward offer, the council continues to provide subsidised car parking for colleagues working in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole town centres.

What would happen to my salary sacrifice benefits such as the Cycle to Work or Tusker car schemes if my salary reduces in the future?

Everyone’s circumstances are different; however, salary sacrifice would not be directly affected unless your salary reduces to under £28,000. If you still have concerns, please raise these with your line manager in the first instance.

I am concerned about getting into debt using the salary advance scheme. Is there any financial advice or guidance available?

The salary advance scheme should only be used when absolutely necessary and not on a regular basis.

Alongside the salary advance, the scheme offers support with:

  • managing your budget
help to save and put money aside
    financial coaching
    our benefits checker

The provider will monitor the use by colleagues and will offer financial advice if required.

Financial advice is also available through our Employee Assistance Programme and Citizens Advice. You can also seek free and independent financial advice from the Money and Pensions Advice Service (MaPS)

Does the benefits scheme include a discounts to help pet owners?

Pet insurance and Pet Health Plans are available through the Our Benefits portal and Be Savings app.

I’ve been nominated through the Our Stars recognition scheme. Am I entitled to an extra day’s leave?

The introduction of Our Stars scheme allows colleagues to instantly provide recognition to individuals and teams that demonstrate one or more of our values and behaviours.

All Our Star nominations are reviewed by a panel every three months and may be escalated for further recognition as a Shining Star or Super Star Award.

Shining Stars are colleagues who have been nominated for recognition by their peers and then escalated by the Our Stars panel.

Super Stars are colleagues who have eight or more votes from the panel.

Only individual Super Stars will receive an extra day’s leave as a reward, which must be used in that year. If you believe you have been nominated for a Super Star Award and have not been contacted about your extra day's leave, please raise this with your line manager in the first instance.
